What you’ll do

As Regional Manager of FSQA, you'll be responsible for ensuring that Simple Feast exemplifies high standards in food safety and quality. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state and national regulatory and certification authorities, company, customers, legal and all other regulatory, compliance and certification requirements both domestic and foreign. contributes to overall strategic direction for the organization, providing subject matter expertise.

The Regional Manager, FSQA is responsible for the overall planning, designing, implementation, auditing, compliance and training of quality and food safety systems such as TQM (Totally Quality Management) within the production facilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create necessary systems, including communication systems, to remove bottlenecks, information flow issues and other inefficiencies from the QA department.
  • Interact effectively with regulatory authorities, auditing bodies, clients, certification agents and internal staff. Maintain positive, credible, responsive relationships and assures rapid corrective actions through dynamic leadership and timely documentation. 
  •  Develop, implement, audit, assess and train quality systems, SSOPs, GMP best practices HACCP CCPs 
  • Provide technical expertise relative to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) 
  • Conduct food safety, sensory and quality evaluations in collaboration with Culinary production and product Innovation teams 
  • Track performance and monitor production facility progress/objectives weekly based on internal key indicators required by organization, regulatory agencies and customers 
  • Conduct monthly HACCP audits and assess HACCP program compliance by reviewing and analyzing weekly HACCP logs and management checklists to determine consistent fulfilment of required HACCP standard operating procedures
  • Develops supplier quality policies, procedures, data capture and documentation procedures and integrates them into the overall Simple Feast Quality systems program. This includes supplier audits (by Simple Feast and third parties), certificates, complaints, correspondence, corrective actions and product verification checks. 
  • Conduct supplier assessments to ensure suppliers have capabilities and management principles in place to consistently deliver safe products that meet attribute requirements for Simple Feast intended end uses. This assessment includes, GMPs, GAPs, HACCP plans, process controls, material supply management and frequently requires travel to Suppliers sites to accurately assess risks and capabilities 
  • Implement tools to promote internalization and standardization of quality, food safety and sanitation process
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards (e.g. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), HACCP etc) and follow up with corrective actions if necessary
  • Perform and document periodical and random checks on products and services to ensure quality standards are met. Collect and monitor all quality documents (e.g. random product tasting, batch/bulk tasting, portion control, gold samples, equipment handling/performance etc)
  • Participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as TQM/GQS (Global Quality Standards), HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety

Who you are

  • Min five (5) plus years of experience in food manufacturing industry (or related field) working in a third party certified (NSF, SQF, BRC, ISO) manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Knowledge of GFSI and FSMA
  • PCQI or SQF Practitioner or Trained Food Safety Auditor Preferred
  • Ability to drive organizational alignment on Quality Standards strategies, objectives, and projects with an enterprise-wide mindset, and the adaptation of structure, processes, and systems to achieve valued business results.
  • Experience in developing products to serve various market channels (food service, retail, chain, deli). Proven track record of successfully implementing technical and/or regulatory projects, processes or systems.
  • Experience working cross-functionally to build vendors, supplier and contract manufacturer quality programs and requirements
  • Experience investigating quality issues (root cause analysis) and CAPA’s.
  • Understanding of food environmental and sustainability claims eg: Organic certification programs.
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of a dynamic growth-oriented business.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer application and digital food safety monitoring systems.
